What our children have to contend with online.
It’s hard to think that our children are growing up through a “Global Pandemic.” In isolation, behind closed doors, where no one knows anyone anymore. Contending with online platforms is the new social norm. Do they feel pressured to send nudes? Are they engaging in extreme behaviour? Fascinating, to say the least. Let’s take a look at the social contract between our teens. The social expectations online are shaping their young minds.
Should we be worried?
Most kids can navigate social platforms considerably better than us. However, some of us were the innovators behind the concepts that developed these online social networking platforms.
These kids are way more responsible than we think in some ways. Human error, for example, taking a provocative photo and accidentally sharing it instead of saving it privately, does happen in all age categories. With filters and other digital effects, our teens are doing their darndest to avoid the possibility of public humiliation.
