Recent Moon Discoveries
The Moon has an average temperature of -173°F (-130°C). At that temperature, human exposure to space for even a few hours could prove fatal. The temperatures at the poles are even colder, reaching as low as -270°F (-193°C). However, this is not the first time this has been posited.
Experts have discovered tiny grains of soil on the lunar surface with the purity of rock, which is thought to be the product of ancient lava flows. However, it is difficult to obtain samples for testing because lunar soil is ultra-low in weight, extremely porous, and tends to fall apart in your hand when you try to pick it up. In May 2018, astrobiologists at NASA’s Ames Research Center found liquid water on the lunar surface.
