In 1995, Microsoft Windows 95 was the first version of Microsoft’s OS to be released simultaneously in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. It was also the first version of Windows with a desktop interface and the first to support Unicode – which meant that it also helped double-byte character sets in other languages such as Japanese, Chinese, and Hebrew.
