Ancient Storys of the Beginning
In the beginning, many ancient cultures had their own narratives about the creation of the Earth, each rich with meaning and understanding. Among these was the Sumerian creation myth, which spoke of Marduk forming the world from chaos, reflecting a belief in a purposeful creation. In Egypt, the Pyramid Texts described how Atum created himself and then the world, showcasing a profound connection between divine will and earthly existence.
Around seven thousand years ago, the Sumerians emerged in Mesopotamia, pioneering advancements that would shape human civilization. They developed cuneiform writing, which not only documented their language but also encapsulated their mathematical knowledge, astronomical observations, and legal codes. The Sumerians introduced a base-60 numeral system, laying the groundwork for our understanding of time and geometry.
At the same time, the Egyptians were establishing their civilization, marked by the construction of monumental pyramids that showcased their architectural ingenuity.
